Reid Vows Vote On DADT Ban In Defense Bill This Year

Law360, New York (November 18, 2010, 1:25 PM EST) -- Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., has pledged to bring a U.S. Department of Defense authorization bill containing a repeal of the military's “don't ask, don't tell” ban on openly gay members to the floor for a vote before the end of 2010.

Quelling speculation that Senate leadership may strip the DADT repeal from S. 3454, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2011, Reid issued a statement Wednesday vowing to proceed with both measures together before Congress adjourns for the year.
