Class Attys Score $38M Fee In Novartis Sex Bias Suit

Law360, New York (November 19, 2010, 2:51 PM EST) -- The federal judge in charge of a long-running sex bias class action against Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. signed off Friday on a $38.1 million fee award for the plaintiffs' attorneys, who won a $250 million jury verdict against the drug giant before settling the dispute.

Judge Colleen McMahon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York approved the attorneys' fees despite being initially “staggered” by the dollar amount. She said she would issue an opinion next week on the rest of the settlement,...
