Dell, IBM Hit With Processor Power Fault Patent Suit

Law360, New York (November 23, 2010, 3:08 PM EST) -- Consolidated Work Station Computing LLC has booted up a patent lawsuit against Dell Inc. and IBM Corp., accusing the computing giants of infringing a patent that protects computer processors from faults even when they use the same power source.

The Texas-based patent owner's suit, lodged Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, seeks judgments of willful infringement, injunctive relief, damages and interest.

The patent-in-suit, U.S. Patent Number 6,823,475, was issued in 2004 and titled “PC-CPU motherboards with common fault-tolerant power supply.”...
