Former Enron VP Pleads Guilty But Avoids Jail

Law360, New York (November 23, 2010, 7:29 PM EST) -- Former Enron Corp. executive Rex Shelby has pled guilty to an insider trading count stemming from the energy company’s collapse, but he will avoid jail time as part of a deal with prosecutors in which they agreed to drop most of the charges.

Under the deal, tentatively accepted Monday by Judge Vanessa D. Gilmore of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, Shelby will spend up to six months in a federal halfway house, plus up to six months of house arrest or...
