Law360 (November 30, 2010, 7:53 PM EST) -- Medical testing giant Quest Diagnostics Inc. will pay $2 million to settle allegations that it did not provide meal and rest breaks for thousands of laboratory technicians in California.
Named plaintiff Alegria Almero filed an order seeking final approval of the class action settlement on Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
The $2 million payout from Madison, N.J.-based Quest would cover plaintiffs' legal expenses and provide compensation to the 9,817 current and former Quest employees in the class, with the average class member receiving about $132, according to the memorandum accompanying the proposed settlement....
