Perdue Hit With Fraud Suit Over 'Humane' Labels

Law360, New York (December 1, 2010, 3:08 PM EST) -- The Humane Society of the United States has filed a proposed class action claiming Perdue Farms Inc., the nation's third-largest poultry producer, violates New Jersey consumer fraud law by advertising its factory-farmed chicken products as humane.

The Washington, D.C.-based animal protection group filed suit Tuesday in the Superior Court of New Jersey in Monmouth County on behalf of all customers who buy Purdue Farms chicken products.
