Novartis Wins OK On $175M Deal To End Bias Action

Law360, New York (November 30, 2010, 7:17 PM EST) -- A federal judge signed off Tuesday on a settlement valued at $175 million that ends a six-year-old sex bias class action against Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp. fought on behalf of thousands of female sales representatives.

Judge Colleen McMahon of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York also certified a settlement class of 6,026 female sales employees and signed off on service payments for 26 named plaintiffs and 20 deponents, whom she said contributed to the successful outcome of the case.
