Stanford Professor, Joyce Estate Settle Spat

Law360 (March 26, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Stanford University professor has been permitted to publish some James Joyce materials on a scholarly Web site and in a printed book supplement, a rare concession by the notoriously protective estate.

Under a settlement agreement reached March 16, Professor Carol Shloss will be allowed to publish a supplement of her book about Joyce’s relationship with his daughter, Lucia, titled “Lucia Joyce: To Dance in the Wake.”

Shloss has said she removed significant portions of the 2003 book because of lawsuit threats from the Joyce estate...
