9th Circ. Weighs Prop 8 Constitutionality, Standing

Law360, New York (December 6, 2010, 7:04 PM EST) -- Advocates and foes of gay marriage sparred before a federal appeals court Monday in a case over the constitutionality of California's Proposition 8, a 2008 ballot initiative that effectively banned same-sex marriage, debating the meaning of marriage and whether the initiative's supporters have standing to bring the suit after state officials declined to pursue it.
