Murphy Oil Sends First $60M To La. Residents

Law360 (March 28, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Murphy Oil USA Inc. has started to make amends with thousands of Louisiana residents whose homes and businesses were damaged by an oil tanker spill that leaked into their neighborhood during Hurricane Katrina, sending out the first $60 million of a $330 million class action settlement.

The $60 million in payments went out to more than 6,000 property owners and renters, the AP reported, citing a Murphy Oil spokesperson.
