Judge OKs $27M Deal In Cooper Securities Action

Law360, New York (December 14, 2010, 4:46 PM EST) -- A federal judge has approved a $27 million settlement in a securities class action accusing Cooper Cos. Inc. and its officers of inflating the contact lens maker's stock price by hiding problems arising from its 2005 acquisition of Ocular Sciences Inc.

Judge Cormac J. Carney of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California issued orders Monday granting final approval to the settlement and approving $6.6 million in attorneys' fees for the plaintiffs' counsel, plus up to $1.5 million in expenses.
