Judge Sides With Tribe, Blocks Calif. Solar Project

Law360, New York (December 16, 2010, 6:43 PM EST) -- A federal judge has granted the Quechan Tribe’s bid to halt a massive solar energy project in Imperial County, Calif., that has received approval from the U.S. Department of Interior and its Bureau of Land Management.

Judge Larry Burns of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California approved the motion for a preliminary injunction on Wednesday, finding that the tribe raised serious questions as to the merits that the BLM did not adequately consult with it before signing off on the project....
