Pentagon Scales Back OCI Rule

Law360, New York (January 3, 2011, 2:59 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Defense has released its final regulation governing organizational conflicts of interest for defense contractors, bowing slightly to critics by limiting its application to contractors for major defense weapons system programs, among other revisions.

The highly anticipated final rule, published Dec. 29 in the Federal Register, implements Section 207 of the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act of 2009, which calls for the DOD to promulgate rules addressing OCIs in its major defense acquisitions. The new rule became effective Dec. 29.
