SF Weekly, Bay Guardian Settle Antitrust Row

Law360, New York (January 4, 2011, 7:07 PM EST) -- Alternative newspaper SF Weekly has agreed to settle an antitrust case brought by rival Bay Guardian Co. following its failure to convince the California Supreme Court to overturn a $21 million award to the plaintiff.

Both papers published stories Monday saying that they had reached a settlement on “mutually agreeable terms.” The details of the agreement are confidential.

The Guardian sued SF Weekly — part of the national alt-newspaper chain Village Voice Media Holdings LLC — in October 2004 for allegedly trying to run it out...
