Chicago Sewer Contractors Hit With Fraud Charges

Law360, New York (January 7, 2011, 3:35 PM EST) -- Two Chicago businessmen, including one with a connection to Mayor Richard M. Daley's son, have been indicted for allegedly scheming to use a minority-owned business as a front to win $3 million in sewer cleaning and inspection work.

The indictment, handed down Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, named as defendants Jesse Brunt, his minority-owned business Brunt Bros. Transfer Inc. and Anthony Duffy, who ran two now-defunct nonminority companies that allegedly did the work Brunt Bros. was supposed to perform....
