Coke Seeks To Toss World Cup Song Infringement Suit

Law360, New York (January 13, 2011, 3:28 PM EST) -- Coca-Cola Co. has asked a judge to throw out a suit accusing the soft drink maker of infringing a composer's translation of a song used in promotions for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, saying that the composer never held the copyright.

Coca-Cola filed a motion for summary judgment on Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, arguing that discovery has made it clear Rafael "Rafa" Vergara Hermosilla's claims to the copyright for "Wavin' Flag (Coca-Cola Spanish Celebration Mix)" were unsubstantiated....
