1st Settlement Reached In Deepwater Horizon MDL

Law360, New York (January 13, 2011, 7:47 PM EST) -- Transocean Ltd., BP PLC and Halliburton Co. have reached a deal with the family of one of 11 workers killed in the April explosion on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, the first settlement in massive multidistrict litigation over the disaster.

Details of the settlement between the family of the late Karl Dale Kleppinger and the companies were not forthcoming in a motion Thursday to dismiss the member case filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
