Judge Sets Retrial Date In Nigerian Barge Case

Law360 (April 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Three former Merrill Lynch & Co. employees who were convicted in the Nigerian Barge scandal following the collapse of Enron Corp. will be retried on the charges in January 2008.

During a hearing Wednesday, Judge Ewing Werlein Jr. of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas set the pretrial conference for Daniel Bayly, James A. Brown and Robert S. Furst for November. But Judge Werlein continued his efforts to get both sides to settle instead.
