Patent Co. Slaps Fan Maker With IP, Contract Suit

Law360 (January 19, 2011, 12:13 PM EST) -- Papst Licensing GmbH & Co. KG has accused Taiwan-based brushless fan and blower manufacturer Tranyoung Technology Corp. of infringing two patents covering fan technology and breaching a licensing agreement.

The German patent-licensing company filed its complaint Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

The complaint alleges that Tranyoung breached a licensing agreement between the companies allowing Tranyoung to use Papst patents for its fans.

As part of that agreement brokered in 1997, Tranyoung is supposed to make periodic reports and royalty...
