US Won $2.5B In Health Care Fraud Cases In '10: Study

Law360 (January 24, 2011, 8:03 PM EST) -- The U.S. government won or negotiated $2.5 billion in criminal and civil health care fraud judgments in 2010, its highest total ever, according to a report released Monday.

According to the Health Care Fraud and Abuse Control Program Report, released by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services, the government collected a record total of $4 billion for the Medicare Trust Fund, federal agencies and whistleblowers in fiscal 2010 through health care fraud investigations.
