LA DAs Win Class Cert. In Union Retaliation Action

Law360, New York (January 25, 2011, 3:07 PM EST) -- A federal judge has granted class certification to Los Angeles deputy district attorneys who allege Los Angeles County officials retaliated against them after they indicated they wanted to join a union.

Judge Otis D. Wright II of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Monday granted the Association of Deputy District Attorneys' motion for a class of deputy district attorneys limited to liability issues.

While the union has only 300 members, the plaintiffs sought to certify a class of 540 members. When...
