Dow Jones Seeks To Shine Light On Medicare Database

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 4:13 PM EST) -- The publisher of the Wall Street Journal is seeking to put an end to a decades-old injunction preventing public disclosure of how much money individual doctors receive from Medicare reimbursements.

In a motion filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Dow Jones & Co. Inc. asked to intervene in the lawsuit that originally led to the injunction in 1979, saying the public should have access to information it needs to uncover fraud and abuse in the government health care program....
