Stripes Sues TGI Friday’s In Trademark Spat

Law360, New York (January 26, 2011, 6:15 PM EST) -- Stripes LLC on Wednesday sued the parent company of TGI Friday’s Inc. alleging the restaurant company violated the Texas-based restaurant and gas station chain's trademarks with its “give me more stripes” customer loyalty campaign.

Stripes, which owns about 500 restaurants and gas stations in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma, was granted the word mark “stripes” by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in 2004, according to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
