AP Slams Bid For Quick Win In Obama 'Hope' Fight

Law360, New York (January 28, 2011, 5:50 PM EST) -- The Associated Press has ripped a T-shirt company's bid for summary judgment in a tussle over an iconic image of President Barack Obama, saying the company profited from the illustration despite knowing it was created using a copyrighted photo.

In a memorandum filed Thursday, the AP asks the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to reject the motion by counterdefendant One 3 Two Inc., the company licensed to sell artist Shepard Fairey's "Hope" illustration under the brand name Obey Clothing.
