Ex-Contestant Accuses 'American Idol' Of Sex Bias

Law360, New York (January 31, 2011, 5:18 PM EST) -- A former “American Idol” contestant has accused the reality show’s producer of sex discrimination for allegedly forcing him to “gay it up” and act “outrageous” at a paid audition and several subsequent television appearances.

Ian Benardo accused American Idol Productions Inc. of sex discrimination, harassment and retaliation in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and New York state law in a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
