Regulators Probe Ameren Over Credit Ratings

Law360 (April 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Missouri Public Service Commission has issued subpoenas to electricity and natural gas utility Ameren Corp. and its affiliates requesting seven years of communications between the company and three major credit rating services.

PSC Commissioners Steve Gaw and Robert Clayton III said the subpoenas, which were issued last week and received by Ameren on Monday, are part of an investigation into the relationship between publicly traded utilities and independent credit rating agencies Moody’s Investors Service, Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services and Fitch Ratings.
