Fraudsters Take Billions In DOD Contracts: Report

Law360, New York (February 2, 2011, 7:06 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Defense paid $285 billion between 2007 and 2009 to contractors accused of contracting fraud during that same period, according to a DOD report released Wednesday by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.

The DOD awarded about $5 billion in contracts between 2007 and 2009 to businesses that had already been convicted of civil fraud during that same period, the report said.
