MGA Sues Mattel For $1B Over 'Kill Bratz' Scheme

Law360, New York (February 4, 2011, 6:20 PM EST) -- MGA Entertainment Inc. has hit Barbie maker Mattel Inc. with another suit in the companies’ intellectual property war, seeking $1 billion for the toy giant's alleged attempts to shut Bratz dolls out of the market and “litigate MGA to death.”

In a complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, MGA claimed Mattel used anti-competitive schemes — referred to internally as “Operation Cast Doubt on Bratz,” “Defcon 1 Alert” and “Litigate MGA to Death” — to sabotage MGA’s Bratz doll...
