GAO Tosses Protests Over $80M Grenade Contract

Law360, New York (February 8, 2011, 7:32 PM EST) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office has thrown out protests by Martin Electronics Inc. and Amtec Corp. over a $78.9 million contract for producing hand grenades that the Department of the Army awarded to Day & Zimmerman Inc.

The Army did not improperly favor D&Z in awarding the contract and made a valid comparison of technical proposals from MEI, Amtec, D&Z and a fourth bidder, according to a decision the GAO reached Jan. 19 but released in early February.
