Google, Others Say Prior Art Voids Data Storage IP

Law360, New York (February 9, 2011, 6:45 PM EST) -- Google Inc., Inc. and several other Internet giants have asked a court to invalidate a Bedrock Computer Technologies LLC patent for information storage techniques, arguing prior art anticipated the patent’s claims.

In a motion for summary judgment of invalidity, the companies told U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas on Tuesday that the technology in Bedrock’s patent — currently at the center of a Bedrock-initiated infringement suit — was preceded by code in the Linux operating system.
