Decision On $9B Chevron Judgment Delayed

Law360 (February 18, 2011, 3:09 PM EST) -- A federal judge in New York on Friday called for more information about the Ecuadorean judicial system before ruling on Chevron Corp.’s request for a preliminary injunction to block the enforcement of an $8.6 billion judgment over decades-old pollution claims.

Judge Lewis A. Kaplan of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York heard arguments on the bid, but ultimately decided he wanted more information about Ecuador's judiciary before making up his mind.
