Texas Atty Pleads Guilty In Stock Manipulation Case

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 12:53 PM EST) -- A Texas attorney pled guilty to obstruction of justice on Tuesday in the District of Columbia for his part in a scheme to artificially inflate stock sales of Aztec Oil & Gas Inc. and mislead the company's investors.

Between September 2004 and May 2005, Houston attorney Franklin C. Fisher, 70, and a partner artificially pumped up the sales of Aztec Oil & Gas Inc.'s shares by funding newsletters that recommended buying the stock through a shell company, the U.S. Department of Justice said Tuesday.
