Charges Shaved In NASA Fraud Suit Against Professor

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 4:50 PM EST) -- A federal judge on Tuesday trimmed charges against a former University of Florida professor accused of stealing $3.7 million from NASA through fraudulent funding requests, saying that a five-year statute of limitations bars wire fraud and money laundering claims.

Judge Stephan P. Mickle of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida rejected the federal government's argument that the limitations for the charges against ex-professor Samim Anghaie was wholly tolled by the Wartime Suspension of Limitations Act.
