Coke Wins Dismissal Of World Cup Song Copyright Suit

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 7:25 PM EST) -- A federal judge in Florida tossed a suit on Wednesday that accused Coca-Cola Co. of infringing a composer's translation of a song used in promotions for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Judge K. Michael Moore granted Coca-Cola's motion for summary judgment in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, ruling that Rafael "Rafa" Vergara Hermosilla sold his claims to the copyright for "Wavin' Flag (Coca-Cola Spanish Celebration Mix)."
