Blockbuster Hit With $6.4M Claim Over Movie Titles

Law360, New York (February 23, 2011, 8:47 PM EST) -- Universal Studios Home Entertainment LLC alleged Tuesday that bankrupt Blockbuster Inc. was delinquent on a $720,000 bill for leased movie titles, causing Universal to break a licensing contract and costing it $6.4 million in administrative expenses.

Universal is asking a bankruptcy judge to order Blockbuster to pay the $6.4 million claim or force the video rental company to send back 12 licensed movie titles, according to Universal's motion filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
