Judges Reject Appeal Over Online Royalty Rates

Law360, New York (April 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Companies that broadcast radio over the Internet, such as Yahoo Inc. and Time Warner Inc.’s AOL unit, are crying foul after a panel of copyright judges denied a request for a rehearing in a contentious dispute over royalty rates.

The panel of U.S. Copyright Royalty Judges on Monday said it wouldn’t rehear or reconsider its March 2 decision, which dramatically increased Webcasting royalty rates for online services until 2010, stating the companies had failed to offer any new information.
