HarperCollins, Seinfeld Dodge Stolen Cookbook Claims

Law360, New York (February 25, 2011, 9:01 PM EST) -- A New York judge on Friday tossed a breach of contract lawsuit accusing HarperCollins Publishers Inc. of taking cookbook author Missy Chase Lapine's idea for a children's cookbook on healthy eating and giving it to comedian Jerry Seinfeld's wife instead.

Judge Marcy Friedman of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, County of New York, dismissed the claims against HarperCollins, deciding that Lapine never proved that she had an implied contract with the publisher.
