Humana Wins Back $24B Tricare Contract

Law360 (February 28, 2011, 3:01 PM EST) -- Humana Inc. on Friday proclaimed victory in a protest with the U.S. Government Accountability Office over a $23.5 billion U.S. Department of Defense contract for medical care to troops in Southern states.

The DOD decided in 2009 to give the contract, one of three Tricare contracts totaling $55 billion handed out that year, to rival UnitedHealth Group, setting off a long legal battle.
