Court Revives $10B Philip Morris Light Cigarette Suit

Law360, New York (February 28, 2011, 8:14 PM EST) -- An Illinois appellate court Thursday revived a class action against tobacco giant Philip Morris USA over marketing of its light cigarettes, five years after the state's highest court threw out a $10 billion verdict in favor of the plaintiffs.

The Appellate Court of Illinois for the Fifth District ruled that the plaintiffs' appeal was timely and remanded the case to the Madison County Circuit Court.
