GAO Prods DOD On Rapid Acquisition Reform

Law360, New York (March 1, 2011, 5:33 PM EST) -- Fragmentation and decentralized decision-making in the U.S. Department of Defense's rapid acquisition processes have hampered the military's ability to identify and procure urgently needed equipment in war zones, according to a federal audit released Tuesday.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office unveiled a pair of reports during a hearing before the U.S. House of Representatives Armed Services Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces to examine the DOD's progress in implementing recommendations and legislative reforms to the rapid acquisition process.
