N.Y. Enacts Broad Workers’ Compensation Reforms

Law360, New York (April 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- New York Governor Eliot Spitzer recently signed landmark legislation (Chapter 6 of the 2007 Laws of New York) fundamentally reforming the state’s workers’ compensation system.

That legislation, the first major reform to workers’ compensation in New York in over ten years, has received the support of labor and business advocates and is expected to reduce insurance premiums for employers while increasing most injured workers’ weekly benefits to $500 per week this year.
