BP Tries To Nix Bevy Of Claims From Deepwater MDL

Law360, New York (March 1, 2011, 6:04 PM EST) -- BP PLC asked a federal judge Monday to toss hundreds of suits from the multidistrict litigation over the Deepwater Horizon disaster, contending that claims in master complaints filed on behalf of two plaintiff groups were procedurally barred or otherwise defective.

Looking to slash claims from tens of thousands of businesses and individuals allegedly harmed by the oil spill, BP moved to dismiss master complaints filed on behalf of plaintiffs seeking economic loss and property damage remedies as well as plaintiffs suing for environmental violations.
