GM Canada, Law Firm Face $770M Contract Action

Law360, New York (March 2, 2011, 9:42 PM EST) -- A Canadian judge Tuesday granted class status to over 200 General Motors Co. dealers in a CA$750 million ($770.6 million) suit accusing GM's Canadian arm of breaching franchise agreements during a bailout and saying a former legal team concealed a conflict of interest.

Lead plaintiff Trillium Motor World Ltd. can pursue its claims against General Motors of Canada Ltd. and Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP as a class action, Justice George R. Strathy of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice ruled.
