News Site Sues Austin Over Public Records Disclosure

Law360 (March 4, 2011, 7:27 PM EST) -- An Austin news website sued the city in a Texas state court Tuesday, alleging city officials violated the state's public records law by failing to turn over e-mails related to city business sent from personal devices and a secret e-mail system.

The complaint, filed by the Austin Bulldog in the Texas District Court for Travis County, alleges that “one or more” city officials use cell phones and private e-mail accounts to conduct city business without making those records available on the city's servers. The complaint names...
