Lorillard, Others Face $1.4M Hit In Asbestos Suit

Law360, New York (March 10, 2011, 1:05 PM EST) -- A California couple will receive almost $1.4 million in a suit accusing Lorillard Tobacco Co. and Hollingsworth & Vose Co. of causing terminal lung disease by using an asbestos-containing filter in cigarettes sold decades ago, the plaintiffs' counsel said Wednesday.

After a seven-week trial, a jury of the Superior Court of the State of California, County of San Francisco, sided with Placerville, Calif., couple Don and Monica Lenney, according to Levin Simes Kaiser & Gornick LLP.
