TripAdvisor Strikes Deal In Editors' Classification Action

Law360, New York (March 18, 2011, 12:25 PM EDT) -- TripAdvisor LLC, the travel website owned by Expedia Inc., agreed Thursday to pay $350,000 to end a class action in Massachussetts alleging the company misclassified its editors as independent contractors.

The plaintiffs asked the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts to sign off on the settlement, which will cover Web content editors who worked for TripAdvisor between 2005 and 2009 and were classified as independent contractors.

Lead plaintiff Deirdre Kiely originally filed the suit in Norfolk Superior Court in July 2008, but the case...
