Microsoft Draws Barnes & Noble Into Android War

Law360, New York (March 21, 2011, 7:23 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. broadened its patent offensive against Google Inc.’s Android software Monday, lobbing infringement actions in both a Washington federal court and the U.S. International Trade Commission targeting Barnes & Noble Inc.’s Android-based e-readers and tablets.

In complaints filed at the ITC and in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, Microsoft claims Barnes & Noble is liable for infringing several patents because its Nook e-reader and Nook Color table run on Google’s Android operating system.
