BlueBeat Strikes Deal In Recording Cos.' Copyright Suit

Law360 (March 28, 2011, 6:55 PM EDT) -- Bluebeat Inc. on Friday agreed to pay recording companies including Capitol Records LLC and Virgin Records America Inc. about $950,000 to end a suit in California claiming it illegally sold songs to consumers. 

Judge Josephine Staton Tucker of the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California approved the deal, meaning BlueBeat, which runs the website BlueBeat.com, will not go to trial as scheduled Tuesday to determine how much it should pay the companies.
