Ex-Charity COO Gets 3 Years In Texas Bribery Case

Law360, New York (March 29, 2011, 10:03 PM EDT) -- The former chief operating officer of an El Paso, Texas-based charity was sentenced Monday to three years in prison and ordered to pay $3.8 million for his role in a scheme to bribe elected officials to secure federal contracts.

Judge Frank Montalvo of U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas sentenced Ernesto Alonzo Lopez, who was an officer at the National Center for the Employment of the Disabled, for embezzling millions of dollars in government program funds.
