Sony, Others Score Win In Lime Wire Copyright Suit

Law360, New York (March 30, 2011, 3:57 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge ruled Tuesday that Lime Wire LLC was liable for inducing the infringement of over 10,000 sound recordings, declaring the recordings were owned by a group of major record labels including UMG Recordings Inc. and Sony Music Entertainment Inc.

Judge Kimba M. Wood of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York partially granted the labels' motion for summary judgment on ownership, and granted their motion for partial summary judgment on direct infringement.
